CHANGE YOURSELF TO CHANGE YOUR WORLD.
We all want to change the world, but we rarely give a thought about changing ourselves. The truth is, to change the world, we need to change ourselves. You have to change your mentality, approach, actions, and response.
- JoyBell C., the author of the Sun, is snowing, said, “Don’t try to change the world; change yourself. Why? Because the whole world is only relative to the eyes that are looking at it. Your world will only exist as long as you exist, and with the death of you, includes the death of your world. Therefore, if there is no peace in your heart; you will find no peace in this world, if there is no happiness in your life; you will find no happiness anywhere around you, if you have no love in your heart; you will not find love anywhere and if you do not fly around freely inside your soul like a bird with perfectly formed wings; then there will never be any freedom for you regardless if you are on a mountaintop removed from all attachments to all of mankind! Even the mountaintop cannot give you freedom if it is not already flying around there inside your soul! So I say, change yourself, not the world.”
The idea of changing one’s self is not a day job; neither is it an easy task. It is a process. It is an intentional practice, daily, until you create in you the kind of world you want to see around you.
A Step by step guide to changing one’s self;
Redefine yourself; Endlessly think of new ways to redefine yourself. There is always something to change; do it. Redefining one’s self is continuous. When you see something you do not like, get to work. Change it
Change your habits; You want to change something? Focus on the habits that formed that character and change it. A problem is more comfortable to solve when broken into bits. To reinvent yourself, you have to find the habit that created the behaviour, then change your habits. A man that finds it difficult to save because he does too much impulse buying should not just focus on saving but also acknowledge that buying unnecessary stuff is the problem.
Be deliberate; Deliberately dedicate time to change the old habits until the new one naturally become a part of you. The art of reinvention is not something you do today then take a day off tomorrow. There is no day, offs!
Set achievable goals; A bad habit won’t disappear in a day. Change is not a magic wand. Set goals that will effectively address the problem. Remind yourself and always focus on achieving your goals before taking a step further.
Reflect; Always take the time to ask yourself questions. Picture the kind of person you were, the person you are, and the person you want to be. This helps to track your progress and how far you are still going.
Find the right association; Join a group of people with the same common goals; it will help you to stay motivated to do much more. They will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and encourage your personal growth.
Changing the world might seem complicated, but I believe that’s because many people approach changing the world in the wrong way. The right way is first to change ourselves, influence those around us, and see how much we could achieve. Change yourself, influence your cycle, you are just on the right path to change the world.
